Fun flower shoot

Today we decided to have a bit of fun seeing what we could do with some left over flowers and a fabulous make up artist. We have worked with Emma Trachtenberg before on previous shoots and she is a close friend of Chikae’s. She studied at Christine Blundell Makeup Academy and has done some amazing things with makeup and prosthetics - check out her Instagram and her webisite - http://www.hyperactive.co.uk/

We had some astrantia, pink alstromeria, spray roses, carnations, nutans (pin cushion protea), craspedia and carthamus so decided to do an orange and yellow look and also have a go at making a decorative fan using a piece of coral. We also wanted to have a play around with using individual petals.

The coral fan worked particularly well. Using a glue gun we attached pink carnation petals in an arc at the base of the coral. We then used gold leaf to add a hint of gold to some pink alstromeria petals, and layered these over the carnation petals, again using the glue gun. The finishing touch was a single head of the spray rose which we gave a slight gold hint using spray paint.

We also found that the coral fan could double up as a headdress, almost creating a natural veil over the face which was so effective. We were also pleased to find that even after two days, as we had used strong flowers, it still looked as good as new so would be perfect for a wedding or party in place of a fascinator or wrist corsage.
